You look around, and it feels like everyone is “passing you up” — more followers, dream clients, big opportunities — and you’re left wondering: What am I doing wrong?
In this episode, I’m sharing the real reasons content creation feels harder for you — from comparison spirals to “I’ve been waiting forever” energy — and the mindset shifts that will help you romanticize the process instead of resenting it.
💌 If you’re ready to stop feeling behind and start creating from a place of love, you’re in the right place.
And if you're ready to romanticize your life and stop hating social media, book a fit call here && let's make magic together.
You look to your left, you look to your right, and as much as you want to support every woman who is starting a business and following their dreams, you wonder why the heck is content creation so easy for them and not for me. Maybe they started in the same place as you did, or maybe they even started after you did. So you're just like, what am I doing wrong? Why am I sitting here struggling?
Oh, welcome back to Romanticize. I have so many notifications going on. welcome back to Romanticize Your Life, rum Studio. Violet. I am Keira Violet, and I'm so happy that you're here. This is your antidote for I hate social media and the Shining Star if you want to romanticize your life. So if that sounds like you hit subscribe, can't wait to see you round.
Well, in short, content creation is taking so long for you because you are comparing yourself to other people. Now, hold on. I know that is such a generic response, so just let me explain a little bit. I promise this will make more sense I will go more into detail about this.
Speak to what you're feeling right now because it is a lot of what I have felt. I, as a background started, well, going way back, I majored in theater in college. I always wanted to be a performer. Majored in theater in college, went to acting school. Then 2020 happened, and in the middle of waiting for acting school to commence, I dove into the world of digital marketing and design.
And it wasn't until actually five years later that I actually started learning how to get into the depths of Adobe Illustrator and create brands and really take my content creation seriously. I had been working on it for other people, but it was just really hard to do it for myself. So. I've been there, and this is also not an episode about, oh, why so and so has a million subscribers, and how to get a million subscribers and followers on your content because that's not the goal.
The goal is that you can do what you love and follow your dreams. I know you want to do the work that fills your heart with all of the. Bubbles and rainbows and smiles that you dreamt of when you were a kid. Like literally, I want you to live the life that you imagined as a kid, because that's what I do.
I perform, I write music, I design. And I freaking love it. I live a creative life, and if we're trying to convince ourselves out of that, then man, you are in the right place because I want you to be romanticizing your life and doing the work you love. And that actually starts with all of this mindset stuff around content creation.
Because if you really think about it. The depth of how people find you is through content creation. You're creating content every single day through the work that you do. You're creating content in meetings. You're creating content just by living. We are creators, especially as women. The definition of a creator is that feminine energy that we bring to all the spaces that we grace.
We bring life to the world if we so choose. We are the ultimate creatives. And so when it comes to creating content, you're thinking, oh, I need to be better at social media. And why are they, why are they surpassing me? And they're, they're subscribing to all the trends and they're getting all the followers.
Just remember that it's so not about that. It's actually about what you love and doing exactly what you were put on this earth to do. But you might be thinking a bunch of different things, which I have thought in many different facets and avenues. The first might be. They got it. Instead of me, you know, they, this other business owner got a bunch of followers or they like nailed this.
They, they, they have all the clients. They understood content creation. Like there's something about their brand, their site, their vibe that you're like, they got it. Instead of me, it was already theirs. Maybe they got the dream client, maybe they got the dream partnership. It was always theirs. And if we're talking about content creation, which I know we are, you might be wondering what does that have to do with like the work I do in clients?
But it's all intertwined because I. The sooner we can connect our content creation to our lifestyle and how we look at the world and how we think about our work and the mindset that we have in our business, the more we can actually create content seamlessly. So for an example, let's say there. Social media looks amazing.
Or maybe it's not even someone, you know, you're just looking on Instagram and you're like, how, how does their, how does their content look this good? It feels like it's so effortless to make all these day in the life vlogs and talk to the camera and they have a bunch of people following them and they could say one thing and a bunch of people could buy it and they could rich.
It was already theirs. This, this lifestyle, this, the, the, the social media handle, the site, the name, every client they have and have will ever get was already theirs. This is something that I learned in acting school and I honestly constantly, constantly learned all the time and remind myself because it is so easy for us to convince ourselves that.
We can control everything. Like we get to decide what happens. And now there is a lot of importance in action, in inspired action when it comes to creating content to doing the work. We love to living the life we love, but I think a lot of us forget that the universe, , whatever you might call it, is so any higher power nature.
A single butterfly, a doorknob, whatever you believe in, it's so much more wise than we are. And so when we wonder like, you know, they got it. Instead of me, first of all, we're saying that there's only a certain amount of spots. And of course that's scarcity mindset. And we don't wanna think that because then we're just going to restrict ourselves from any potential of abundance.
Financial abundance, life abundance, friendship abundance, client abundance, work, abundance, life abundance. The universe in this higher power is smarter than us. And what I had to learn in acting school was that like there, that role was already theres, I mean, we all get really attached to certain outcomes.
As someone who owns a business and does work that you love, there's probably certain clients that you're like. Oh my gosh, that's a dream client. And they went with someone else. Or sometimes, like I've had clients, I really wanted to do their branding and um, I, you know, proposed something to them and they were like, no, I'll try to do it myself.
And then they designed their own logos and I'm like, oh, I wish I did it for you. Like, ah, this is sad, I wanna do it. Um, or they, you know, they ask someone else. They ask someone else and they're like, someone else is taking care of it. And I'm like, oh, I'm a failure. But it wasn't, it was never mine. It was never mine to begin with.
So having that reminder for myself that seeing other people like nail content creation, you might wonder like, oh gosh, I need to find like followers, like they do, or I need to find the strategy that they have. Like they, it was already theirs. And the beauty of content creation that I always say. Is that, um, you are never going out and finding like, you know, different templates and, um, approaches to content and a strategy, even though that's all that I do.
Like, I'm not going out and finding that for you. I am just uncaring. What has been there the whole time. I have to find the person who said this quote, because there was an artist who said, you know, you're not, I'm not sculpting this. I'm just cutting away what's not there. So the thing is, it's already there.
It's just not, it's not being carved away yet. And that goes for any opportunity that you see that you're missing or any content creation element that you're like, oh my gosh, why? Why can't I nail this? Or even the confidence to like speak in front of your phone if you're like, I can't, I wish I could do.
Why is she so confident in that? It's like that she was ready for that at that time and it's just, you're not ready for it yet. And that's not to be demeaning at all. And hopefully it doesn't come off that way, but like. There will be a time when you're given something that no one else gets either. I know that might feel like it has more to do with business, but like I'm all about like talking about social media and then not talking about social media.
Like my titles say things about, you know, how to, how to reach more people on social media and, and. I'm better at branding and content creation, but that's just because I know that that's what you're searching for, but I know that you're actually looking for something deeper. So if you're here. I'm so happy you found me, and hopefully you're not, uh, unhappily surprised by the content that's in here because, uh, we shake things up and make things different.
So if that's something that you're interested in, again, feel free to hit subscribe. And if this is something that you're looking for your own business with social media support, branding, and even a show website, go ahead and book a fit call with me and I'll see you for a fit. If we're not, there's a million other people I can recommend to you that I'm sure would be an amazing fit.
I'm just here to help you. And help you romanticize your life, so, so happy you're here. The second thing you might be thinking is like, I've been waiting forever. And this could be about like an opportunity, about being confident about being online. And when it comes to content creation, especially, I feel like you know, when you're just not ready for it.
Like you're forcing it, you're trying to design something in Canva or you're trying to make a post and it just like doesn't feel right and that's okay for it to not feel right. And I know this is delicate balance between like being uncomfortable and also don't force things. And I really can't tell you which right now in this.
In this podcast, like the difference maybe in a future one? I think I've mentioned it before, maybe in a future one, but I want you to, I wanna invite you to rethink this concept of like, I've been waiting forever for this opportunity. I've been waiting forever for this client. I've been waiting forever to be better at social media.
I've been waiting forever to, um, finally like love my life again, and for the majority of my clients and the people watching this, I know you're already established in your business. The majority of you are already established in your business, like you have clientele, but you're like, I need to hit that.
Now I want to hit that goal of like just loving my life again. A lot of people I talk to, they're like, well, my business is the boring part of me. And what's really exciting is this thing over here, and what I say is, no, no, no, no, no. Bring that thing over here because that's also a part of your business.
And the first step of romanticizing your life is blending the lifestyle and the business together. So what the heck does this have to do with? I've been waiting forever. Well, I want you to really step back, and again, this is all about comparing ourselves to other people. Have you really been working on this forever, like this goal or, um, starting with content creation, I mean.
I'm sure content hasn't been around your whole life, first of all, so that has not been something that you've been working for forever. But I want you to think about like, how much have you been growing? How much have you been growing? When I look back at myself a year from now, I feel like it's an entirely different person in the best way.
Not like I've changed so much. And I'm a different person than who I am, like in the, uh, like I'm taking away the good parts of me, but my mindset in so many different ways has improved so much, and I'm trying to use that as my meter of like, am I on time for what's happening? Like, am I, am I universally in the space that I'm ready to accept?
The success that's coming at me. So I just wonder if you think about yourself a year ago, are you. A more seasoned individual? Do you have a different mindset, a different perspective about things? Are you more understanding? Are you empathetic? Are you, do you have more of a strategy about something that you didn't know before?
Did you join a program and your mind has been open? That's what happened to me in January. I joined a program and I'm like, what would I have done without this? And that is my meter on how long it's allowed me. How long I'm allowed to take to hit certain goals is if I can look back at myself a year from now and be her mentor, be her teacher in a way that she could never understand.
You're on time, you're on time.
Chances are, you're putting a lot of pressure on this idea that. You've been waiting for something for a long time, when in reality, you, you've just shifted. I mean, we're all sh ever shifting, ever growing individuals, and I know you are too because you're a multi hyphenated, multifaceted business owner, human being, individual, multiple, layered person, and.
Chances are you haven't been waiting, sitting around and waiting forever. 'cause first of all, you have a business and a lot of people can't do that. So I know you're not one to wait and not take action. But I do think that maybe the universe just was saying that like that wasn't your time and that your timeline's different.
I mean, you're a different person than you were a year ago. If that's true, then you are on the right timeline. And all our timelines are different too. I mean, we look at other people. I know I compare myself all the time when I'm scrolling or going on YouTube or listening to podcasts.
Where do you hang out? Do you go on, I'm, I'm curious, do you go more on, are you finding this from Substack or from YouTube? Comment below. 'cause I'm curious, but I look at other creators and I'm like, wow. Like I put them on a pedestal and I'm like, whoa, you have been doing this. You like, you've been doing this for basically as long as I have and I just haven't focused enough in this.
But then, you know, you look at all the unsexy things that they had to do to get there for many years, probably more than you think. And then you remember, and maybe you're in this unsexy time right now, and that's that feeling because they were thinking that about someone else, and you're in that unsexy feeling right now.
But the unsexy part is actually the part with all the growth, which is very fun and that way. You can talk about it on something like this, a podcast, a future podcast, or in your content. Going back to content creation, you could talk about the unsexy in the content creation, about how you've been waiting forever for something.
I don't know if there are really good stories about people who haven't like really waited for something. People who were given things their whole lives, you know, they can ask for something and you know, they didn't have to work for it that doesn't make interesting content like I wanna hear about how you've waited for something and you worked really hard for it.
People wanna hear that. People want to pay you and work with you and partner with you. Who know that you've struggled and who know that you've worked so hard for this, and also what better way to celebrate than romanticize your life And finally create content to talk about the stuff that happened before and now you're here.
Even though we're on a never ending journey, of course there's always gonna be struggles, but what better way to celebrate it then truly romanticize every single day of the work you're doing through just creating content about all of the things that you had to work for in the past. The last thing I know that you're thinking when it comes to why content creation just takes so long to work, why so many of your goals feel like they take so long to work is you wanna come back.
You, you wanna do something in spite of what they said you could never do. Maybe you don't think of this, maybe you are a healed person. And for that. I'm proud of you. That's awesome. I go to therapy for stuff like this because when I was in college, I felt a lot of resentment because I never got cast in the main stage shows.
There were basically two shows at my university, James Madison. There was the main stage where like. It's not that they were better shows, but it was a bigger, it was a bigger theater. You get like professional photography and really good lighting and you just, you had a better venue, a better space. And then there were the black box shows, which are actually so much fun.
I was in a bunch of them and I, I like, love that scrappiness. It was all student run productions and we did like new works and, and uh, student written shows and that was so fun. Anywho, it was kind of a thing where like if you were good, you would get on the main stage, and for a while I didn't even get cast in anything.
I didn't even get cast in the black box stuff, so. I was like waiting. I was like, Ugh. None of the professors like me. I can't wait until I get on a TV show or I get on Broadway and I can just be happy in spite of them and I can make my comeback and then I can go speak at the school and they ask me to speak 'cause I'm so successful and I can tell them that they didn't help me at all.
That energy wasn't the best. It didn't bring me forward. It didn't propel me forward. The most propelling forward is that a word that I had was when I started going to therapy and work through the resentments that I had about like, woe is me, poor me. I'm not saying you think this, I just wanna invite you to maybe.
Think about anything that's happened in your life where you feel that sense of Ugh, I need to do this in spite I'm always the underdog. I need to do this in spite of them. I have only really grown financially and, uh, lifestyle wise when I was going to therapy and not focusing on, well, I'm gonna show them, I'm gonna prove to them that they were wrong.
So I just wonder if, um. Romanticizing your life is the cure to that. Is the cure to that romanticizing your life through creating content about the work you love. Yeah. It all comes back to content creation because I know you're a creative person. Or else you wouldn't have started this business. And I know that you infuse creativity in the work you do in collaboration and warmth and inspiration, and I know that that comes from love and passion and that can't come from spite and proving things. So I just wonder if there's any of that remaining feeling, perhaps that's a reason why content creation.
Is difficult for you or why you feel like other people are passing you up because maybe you feel like this is how it's always been. I. Loved to live in the victim mindset and I think we all like kind of ebb and flow out of it. It's, it's comfortable, right? Living as a victim is comfortable. We're all very comfortably comfortable being like, this happened to me and that's not right.
Justice sensitivity, this is not right. And it happened to me and that's not fair. That is like my mo, like that's not fair though. And I just wonder how productive that is to my creativity. Instead of just doing the damn work, doing the work you love doing, the work you do in your business that people pay you for and trust you for, because this is what you were meant to do.
And if you feel like the work you're doing isn't what you were meant to do, then you just haven't infused your lifestyle enough into it yet, and you haven't learned to romanticize your work so you can fall back in love with your life again. Because that's all that it's about content creation in these.
In these parts, social media, in these parts. It's not about finding all the viral hacks and everything like that. That's easy. I can recommend if you're looking for like viral stuff, it's, it's easy to find like the, the viral format of doing things. It's, that's. It's great, it's super helpful. But I want you to find the love in content creation because like that's, that is our art form.
That is the way we express our passions. That's the way you have a voice now, so you don't have to say, I want my comeback in spite of X, Y, Z. So you can just create, just do the work, and that is enough for you, for the universe for. Everyone who can benefit from the work you do.
If you wanna get a little bit more into the strategics of social media, go ahead and watch this next video on why your social media falls flat. Or if you're listening to the podcast, of course, listen to it as usual. I'm so happy that you are here listening.
